Over the laast two days a very noisy helicopter has been flying around north and northwest of Blackbushe. Today we saw it and it was a Bell 47 (or something very similar). It's about 40 years since we last saw a Bell 47 in the UK so does anyone know anything about it please??

40 years? There were two that used to do circuits at Fairoaks regularly during the early part of this decade

I can't answer the original question that this thread is about, but on the subject of noisy Bell 47s, I remember when G-MASH was a flying exhibit a few Farnboroughs ago and it seemed unusually noisy. It was when you were able to spot from the Bae car park and this helecopter took off and went away. Even when the chopper wasn't much bigger than a full stop to the naked eye, I could still clearly hear the noise it's engine was making. I'm still sure that previous examples I've seen weren't as noisy as that one was.

Yeah I noticed it was very noisy when I saw it at Fairoaks on 27/06, I kept thinking a big heli was coming in
