C-FFAN flew direct to Canada? He could carry that much fuel out of Lasham?
I remember the Wardair CF-FAN and CF-FUN :-(

I flew From LGW to Canada (Halifax then Toronto) on an Air Transat B757. At Toronto this year Thomas Cook B757's (G-FCLH,I & J) were seen every day. Also B757's of Finnair were seen there some days.

LEE I suspect that the question was more associated to runway length at Lasham rather than ability of B757 to cross the pond. I guess that as the aircraft was only carrying crew and no baggage that this negates need for longer runways which are probably used by Thomas Cook and Finnair. This is by no means the first time that aircraft have departed Lasham direct to USA/Canada and indeed Miami Air B737-800 N733MA (ex G-OXLA) is likely to depart direct to Bangor Maine on Thursday. Also it is not unusual for some of the regular VIP visitors to depart direct to Saudi Arabia or Dubai, which is similar distance/flight time.
Can confirm that C-FFAN was airborne approx 2/3rds alog runway so there was plenty of room to spare, but B757 probably has best lift capability of all aircraft maintained at Lasham.

Yes it was on a test flight and departed later. The other LN was due in late yesterday evening I believe. A friend of mine is one of the air traffic controllers and he rang during the evening. We weren't about to go there then!!
Apparently we missed a bunch of helicopters - 4 (?) Apaches and 2 others popped in late morning!
