And they say the Red Arrows display is a danger to the public! Try living in the shadow of a 737 flown by clowns! Lowest level just north of me was 1075ft, Lasham is around 610ft above sea level, so the margin for any error was rather low!

If flying was the language of man, soaring would be it's poetry.

Lowest level just north of me was 1075ft, Lasham is around 610ft above sea level, so the margin for any error was rather low! I was Flying at Lasham today and I've never seen a jet fly so poorly. Lining up with Odiham's Runway, then flying the wrong way towards Farnham out of sight of all of us, switching back to LARS and then joining on a left downwing for 27 and overshooting the Runway Centerline as they had been way too close in, so going around again before a final landing. I'm not one to critique but perhaps if the jet had actually been higher than 1000ft agl it might have been able to see Lasham. Sources tell me it was the same crew that brought the other 737 in, explains the dramas. Controllers has a lot of patience, we Gliding Folk were all rolling around Laughing. Planesandthings

What's the answer to prevent such a shambles then? Find another Crew! I haven't ever seen a movement go so wrong at Lasham in my entire time there!

I spent many years in the tower at Luton and on radar at West Drayton and I have never ever witnessed such dangerous flying and that includes the early Ryanair days when the Romanian crews used to fly the 1-11s like their previous jets, which in the main were MiGs!
The crew need to be reported to the CAA who would then do what, have a chat with the Nigerian authorities.
At least when the radar was active at Lasham, the chaps there had a fighting chance of getting them close to the runway. When the pilot flying interrupted and asked for a radar heading, I just placed my head in my hands and hoped it wouldn't end in tears!

Apart from the CL44 (I think) many, many, years ago, have any other Lasham arrivals lined up on Odiham in error?

Motor Glider G-OFIX arrived Sunday lunchtime and G-IIXF Vans RV7 inbound from the north at 12:00 on Monday.
I would imagine that when the radar was serviceable, no movements lined up on Odiham in recent years?

Not that familiar, then.
Buster, thanks for reply, the CL44 incident was so long ago, I don't remember the circumstances, bad weather perhaps?

How I would love to see a CL-44 on final now for Odiham or Lasham!

No idea, I was hanging out of the Velux looking for it though. G-KTOW Ikarus was a visitor today and PA-28 G-AXIR was in the circuit this evening.

Hi
Not seen this reported but Frys Electronics Boeing 727RE N724YS fitted with winglets arrived on Tuesday and is currently parked outside.
Not sure why it's here and whether it will remain outside.

Boeing 737-400 5N-BQL was re-registered yesterday as N496CS. Behind that is N724YS Boeing 727-200 and according to the FAA website, destined for TAG Aviation UK (not to be confused with the operator of Farnborough). The same company owns G-OSRA/B N727EL. I guess it is now a resident? It was operated for the Seattle Sea Hawks hockey team. No idea if 2Excel intend to use it for spares or venture into the corporate market?
