I'm sure there are others that are on the scheme and know about this. The old "Airport Watch" seems to have changed. Hants Police who ran this in conjunction with TAG, sent me a letter this week - with a membership card! Firstly it used to be that they would take your details and you needed to toddle along to TAG to get an ID made up. I never did that, but always re-registered my details each year. This time, the mail came through with a membership card for the "scheme", and I just sign it. It also says that TAG's involvement with it has been withdrawn, so you dont interact with them at all now. Anyone else have more background?

Airport Watch (or now Pegasus) is an anti terrorist scheme. Idea being that as spotters/enthusiasts are likely to be at the airfield more frequently than the police, they are the best people to know when something "unusual" is going on. It also identifies the individuals to police when they do spot checks, as someone more likely to be looking at planes than individuals. they require your personal details to add you on the scheme, which I know some people have objected against from a "civil liberties" point of view. But, they have built a separate spotters area at the last FIA show and arranged trips around the airport, so they are alright by me!

I put this in the wrong section yesterday
Airfield Watch Members probably received this email this morning:
Good morning,
Its almost air show time again here at Farnborough. To keep you updated, negotiations are in hand with Farnborough International to arranged a viewing area for members similar to the set up at the last Farnborough Air show
Regards PC 1513 Paul Paruit
Well worth joining I might add, just to be able to use this facility.
