Thanks for posting this link Jeff. Co-incidentally I was playing with my 1960s lists from the Lasham yard only yesterday. I have some doubts that at least one of those claiming to be Lasham might actually be the yard at Church Crookham (ot possibly at Lasham but not on the date given). Picture 3 includes Sabre 19729 which was ex RAF XB626. The RAF Sabres were suppied under MDAP which required their return at end of service. They were never operated by the RCAF but were built with RCAF serials prior to delivery. Many went on to Yugoslavia and Italy (some were actually refurbished at Lasham) but a number were scrapped in the UK. 19729 was indeed with the Staravia yard at Lasham - across the road from the airfield - back in 1959 (having been broken up at Dunsfold) but had migrated to the Staravia yard at Church Crookham along with a shed load of other ex RAF Sabres by 1963. I have no note that these ever made the return journey to Lasham. The mass of Canadian Sabres (serials in the 23... series) at Lasham from 1963 onwards were Mark 6 aircraft retired from the RCAF at Prestwick and were not the former RAF Mark 4 examples which were at Church Crookham. The Canadian T Birds and CF100s at Lasham also originated from Prestwick. Anyone know anything further on this?

If anyone can identify the Jetstream damaged and dumped at Biggin Hill, a friend who took a similar photo of it, would really appreciate the info?

Jeff. It was on Redfields Lane. My guess from memory is that it was where the Garden Centre now is but after 50 years its all changed and I might well be wrong.

My recollection is that the Church Crookham scrapyard was further down the road than where the Garden Centre is now. I'd put it where the BUPA Care Home is now! Unlike Lasham where the custodian was fairly friendly, the guard and his dog(!) were very hostile. The only way to see what was there was to walk round to the field behind the dump and get what you could from there. On 5/9/66 I logged: 19472 SABRE 4 19478 SABRE 4 19486 SABRE 6 19514 SABRE 4 19522 SABRE 4 19533 SABRE 4 19540 SABRE 4 19590 SABRE 4 19699 SABRE 4 19707 SABRE 4 19728 SABRE 4 19734 SABRE 4 19764 SABRE 4 19771 SABRE 4 19772 SABRE 4 19883 SABRE 4 G-ALDK HERMES 1 WE825 SEA FURY T20 WM975 SEAHAWK FB3 XB588 SABRE 4 XB768 SABRE 4 Here is a picture I took in 1968.

The quiz answers are now posted on the NWAN site.
Buster
After 40+ years your friend can now know his Jetstream 1 fuselage at Biggin Hill was G-AXEL cn207. I hope he needed it?

Hi Dave, Having been in contact with the author of the Quiz on the North West Air News Forum and he assures me he never visited the yard in Church Crookam !! I also took the opportunity to ask him to post any more if he has them
