Hi There, Here are some more scanned photos. This time from the 72, 76 and 78 SBAC shows. The quality is poor as they were taken with my earliest cameras as a child. I hope they are still of interest. 1972 MY first ever photo the 18 runway line up taken with a Box Brownie camera. The next two sets are taken with a Kodak Instamatic. This type of camera used a cartridge film which produced square photos. I have cropped them to a normal 6x4 format 1976 1978 The Dassault line-up minus the Mirage 2000 which had left before the public days, the shape of things to come!!! As I said not too good for quality but hope you find them interesting all the same. Cheers

I think the 1976 show was the only one I missed due to not being well (and just before my first holiday abroad to Canada - thankfully I was able to travel) But anyway I do remember N305EA, the Eastern Airlines Tri Star with the BEA tail from the 1972 show, the only camoflaged Skyvan I can remember from that show was G-AXPT. It's possible that Hunter G-BABM is visible among the Harriers. I say that I missed the 1976 show but, of course I picked off some as they arrived for the show, such as Tri Star A40-TY. And when they went up for jollys after the day's flying displays ended. They used to do that in those days!!!

Hi,
A nice trip down memory lane. Used to live in Sussex at that time and often went to Farnborough air shows. Usually catching a special coach from Brighton.

Have discovered some notes from the 1972 show. The day of my visit was 9/9/72 and was a birthday present for a fledgling spotter!! Harriers noted were XV768,XW195,XW916 and a US one 158709 (last number may be '4' - writing not too clever!!) What looks like a viggen in the background of the 1972 photo. I have the code '02' in my notes for this.

Hi There, Thanks for the comments. Some of the points that were raised in the 72 pic yes it is the Hunter G-BABM you can see, and G-VTOL is lurking behind the fuel bowser. I'm sure the Viggen is 02 but may be -02 the swedes sometimes put -sign to signify if it was pre production or prototype. I guess it must have been 37002 would that make sense? As for are there anymore well yes but mostly from the 80s onwards. I spent several years scanning my slide collection for ease of storage when I went digital. I will post more in the the coming weeks and months. Glad you found them interesting
