Hi I have been converting all my aircraft photos & slides into a digital format. I have a few photos of a De Havilland Fly-in that took place in either 1982 or 1983 I think September which makes me think 1983 is a better bet. Does any one remember this and when it happened? I have attached a pic of the old control tower & numerous Moths taken from the hill by the Swan. One other pic I have from that day is of a Swiss DH82 all I can see is HB- any ideas of its full reg. HB-UBC is the only one in a similar colour scheme I can find on the web. Also can you help as I have lots of Farnborough pics now in jpeg format but the slides are about 2-3M which is too big for uploading. I find resizing ruins the quality how do you go about posting pics which are a good size to upload. In the same way my Canon digital camera produces pics of around 7M. Fortunately the attached pic is from a print so came in at only a few hundred kB. Cheers for any help

Yes, I do remember a Moth fly in at Farnborough in the early part of the 1980s. I have found some notes which I think must have been from this day and which would appear to have been some time in 1982. I omitted to write the actual date, only 'De havilland Centenary'! Anyway, here is my list: De havillands G-AIYS, AIXD,AAZP,ACMN,AELO,AEDU,AEOA,AOAA,ANRN,AOEI,ANFM,AYUX,ANOH, ALIW,AOZH,ADND,ARAZ,ANDM,ADGV,AOIR,ANTE,AYIT,APFU,ANDP,ALWW, AGYU,AOEG,APMX,ANCS,ACDJ,AJOA,ANZU,BEWN,BACK,EBLV,BFHH,ASPV, AHBL,ANJA,AAWO,APAO. F-BGCS,D-EEAJ,PH-CSL & yes HB-UBC. I have G-AXBW but not sure if it landed. Resident Chippy (even in those days!) G-BDDD, XN649. D-EBGL. Other types Stampe G-AZCB; Proctors G-AOGE, ANXR. Querie corner: Something which looks like G-AWIK which was a Beech Musketeer. Can anyone confirm if this was present? A couple of military serials: T8191 & 'PG6126' the latter of which seems spurious. I can't find a tie-up in my 1983 or 82 Air Britain registers for it. Unfortunately, your piccy won't open for me.

Hi There, thanks for the info. 1982 is enough info. And thanks for confirming HB-UBC the other pics I have are PH-CSL, K2572 which I found is G-AOZH & F-BGCS. The quality is a bit sketchy as these were taken when I was starting to get into photography + also was learning to use this scanner. It's the first time I've tried to upload a pic so I may have done something wrong don't know if that can be checked. Please let me know as I would like to post other pics and if someone can please help with the file size issue. When I open it here ( this is a work pc) I get silly adverts for pc games but this is normal something to do with my companies server not being UK based. After the advert appears I get asked the usual "is this a safe source" windows question click open and the pic appears. I notice it now appears as a thumbnail at the bottom of my post. cheers again

Hi There, Just googled Geoffrey De Havilland and found he was born on 27th July 1882 so I guess I've got a date!! Didn't know he started at the balloon factory and his first aircraft the FE1 was the first Royal Aircraft Factory product. Cheers

Hi, re. your enquiries - T8191 was possibly DH82A c/n 84483, later G-BWMK. I attended a Moth rally at Hatfield in June 1979 and logged it there. Also there was PG617 (G-AYVY) and PG651 (G-AYUX) which may help your unidentified but there are many better De Havilland fans than I!

The DeH Moth Club rally fly-in to Farnborough was on 4th July 1982.
Further to comment in the posts above, yes G-BDDD was there even then, we bought her in 1979 and she's still here now !
Musketeer G-AWIK was present, as was one other aircraft not mentioned above namely Turbulent G-AWWT. This was the only way I could be at the PFA Rally for part of the the day and help out with the refuelling team for the Moth fly-in for the remainder of the day.
Cheers
