You can now take the road opposite the Queens, turn right at the new traffic lights as if going into the new housing estate ( the old RAE Hostel)& the new road will take you to the rear of the Aviator & FAST museum & ultimately bring out to existing road behind A shed. You still cant get out at Barons but can the other two exit points
Double yellow lines both sides so no stopping although there is a foot path along each side of road

During show week the whole of IQ Farnborough will have extra security so not sure you'll be able to get down there without a pass.
Still worth a try though as it goes right past the end of the runway ;0)

A friend tried spotting from this footpath recently (left his car outside) and received a lot of abuse from one of the Aviator's security staff who threatened him with the police, prosecution for trespassing etc. if he didn't leave! He left! Presumably the Aviator staff don't want their patrons having to look at anoraks with telescopes, cameras etc. while they sip their cocktails in the bar!

Doubt it is public road as originally this area was inside RAE Perimeter . possibly owned by Slough Estates but they sold loads of land . FAST land is still slough estates but thankfully protected from the Vandelism to the RAE Buildings when first bought .

is this a private road or a public right of way??? I believe its Slough Estate's, since it was them who "announced" it was opening. I would think there's nothing to stop you using it normally. In fact it was recently used as an exit road for an exhibition/trade show, but that was before the roundabout end was open. Apparently the council won't let it be used as a through road, which is why there are the bollards by Barons. Shame since you'd think it would ease traffic in central Farnborough, but then I guess the council would have to adopt it and that means cost In the week of the show (and possibly the week before) the whole IQ Farnborough site gets locked down. They won't even let those of us who work there take photographs unless you are in (or better still on the top of) the car park.

Reply from SGT Henderson
As far as I am aware the road is a public road but will be closed during the airshow
During the close run up I have been told nobody will be allowed in this area but until then I can see no reason why you cannot go on foot. I am sure any vehicles will be classed as a security risk
I will try to speak with FIA next week and see if I can find anything out for you

That really doesn't seem like a friendly place at all. Contrast their attitude with The Rennaissance Hotel at Heathrow where I stayed a few weeks ago (to see Air France's A380s) And who have spotter's package deals. Is The Aviator missing a trick or what!! Rant Over!!

if its a public road with a public footpath as the police say then theres no reason why a member of the public shouldn't be on it!!! just ignore the security staff in the hotel

Depending on what the eventual answer to the question is. If it is that the road is public then I don't see that The Aviator can really do anything about it bar shouting. If it's not a public place, then it would depend upon the owner of the land. But, as I said in my previous post, that hotel really does seem a most unpleasant place with nothing to recommend it and I certainly won't be to anyone. My recent stay at Heathrow's The Rennaissance wasn't exactly cheap, but I could afford it and it suited my purpose. It also shows what a sensible attitude to enthusiasts can achieve.

When we went to the airshow this year, the shuttle bus from Farnborough used the new road, so I had a little potter this afternoon in the car. It appears to be a fully open public road, complete with proper direction signs.
There are double yellow lines all the way along by the airfield and CCTV cameras with a couple of machine gun towers near The Aviator. Ok, I made the last bit up, but I wouldn't be surprised were it true!
So you can't stop but it is open as a through route from the IQ site to the Queens Hotel.

HI
Positive Response Now over to you to respond by Email we can get this Sorted ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I could ask that the members put complaints by email to me and I will arrange for them to be investigated. If they could tell me exactly where they were in relation to the hotel and also what was said. If they can describe the member of staff then I will be able to deal with the issue
If they can also tell me if they want further action or just words of advice at this stage it would help
I will speak with the hotel manager and discuss this with them once I receive some emails
Adam

This simply is not on but rather than risk further he left . we dont want any fuss with them or Tag .i have aked Peter to write to you and any other members who have had problems

Imagine being forcibly removed illegally from a public road.
The ‘out of court’ settlement would be huge!

Tony
I have spoken with the hotel manager and he has informed me that the staff have no reason to ask you to leave. They are fully aware that it is now a public road. They have asked for a description of the staff member and how we know that the person worked for them.
Please could you assist with this information
Thanks
Adam
