Latest Local News Paper report suggest TAG seeing an end to the down turn in business flying, also notice that concrete type machinery is back in place where new hanger space is going up suggesting that the build of same has re-commenced Application for 50,000 flights at Farnborough Airport By Nicola Hudson June 16, 2009 THE owner of Farnborough Airport has submitted a controversial planning application to increase flights to 50,000 a year. The proposal, which would see take-offs and landings at the facility go up by 79% from the current 28,000, was emailed to Rushmoor Borough Council last week. Within the details are plans to increase weekend flights from 5,000 to 8,900, meaning a plane would take-off or land at the airport every 10 minutes on a Saturday and Sunday. Only last year TAG won permission from the government to double weekend flights from the previous 2,500. The application follows the recent publication of TAG Farnborough Airport’s Masterplan, which outlined plans to increase not only flights but allow more large private jets to be able to use the airport, in proportion with the overall increase in flights. The changes could mean up to five times the number of large jets using the airport, compared to the number that took off or landed there in 2008. Rushmoor Borough Council announced on Monday that it has 16 weeks to make a decision on the planning application. To aid the process it will carry out an extensive consultation, which includes writing to 10,000 households in the borough, Hart and Surrey Heath, as well as their respective local authorities and statutory bodies. Details of the application can be viewed at www.rushmoor.gov.uk or by visiting the council offices and local libraries. The public can submit their comments until July 27.
