Why do I think that this was British International Airlines (Airways). Planned operate to the Caribbean first class from Stansted? Probably another airframe?

Just remembered, BA objected. It was to operate to Bermuda or Bahamas in a luxury config. World favourite ensured it never (?) operated comercially?

Yes, i remember now being told it was to have a luxury interior installed. I used to make frequent visits to Lasham when you could drive past the hangars.Remember one sunday being invited into the hangar by a fitter and shown around. I will look out my old spotting notes and report the aircraft in the hangar. Thanks for all your replies.

First saw and photographed her as VR-BIA at Lasham on 14 January 1995 when she had fairly recently arrived & last graphed her still there almost 2 years later on 2 January 1997. From memory she lingered on at Lasham until fairly late in 1997 before being axed. As EC-ATP of Iberia she was originally a common Heathrow visitor where I saw her in December 1963 and then in Madrid in 1982 in her time with the Spanish Air Force. She then went to Canada and was stored at Goose Bay late in 74 in an all white scheme before a brief stay at Stansted. With the CAA I was involved with Imperial World who planned to use her for luxury long haul charters but for one reason or another they never got off the ground.
