The destination is a guess I'm afraid based on a couple of helicopter sightings yesterday. At approximately 14:40 yesterday afternoon (30-07-12) a Bell 412 Griffin, which looked like it carried the letter "E" on the side (so I presume it was ZJ242 ?) passed over Silchester, heading roughly South East. It followed a similar route to a Chinook that had passed about 5 minutes before, hence I wondered if the Griffin was en route to Odiham.
Serial and any information on the origin/destination of the Griffin and/or Chinook would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Can confirm that ZJ242 was in the Odiham area at that time (14.39 - 14.43), not sure if it landed there but it was showing locally again just over an hour later. Unable to help with the Chinook I'm afraid.

Hi,
I saw two Griffins this morning at Odiham, coded E and ZJ707/O
There was also a Defender ZG998 i think and another landed around 1130.
Lots of Chinooks on the ramp, only ZA713 was readable.

One wanted to come to Fairoaks last week for some training, but it wasn't authorised as it would have to enter P111 and military aircraft are apparently not allowed to do this unless it's for 'operational' reasons. It didn't seem to matter that Fairoaks has an exemption to allow P111 entry, Fairoaks is in P111 and that's that!

Atlas will close next week, not staying open for the Paralympics.

As I said in my previous, Atlas closes.
R112 and P111 disappear, with much smaller restricted airspace controlled by NATS. No requirement to file Flight Plans etc.
Time for the RAF to take leave.
