Just out of curiosity Never been able to find the answer, Why does XH558 have Cammo on the Bottom of the fuselage as well as the top.... I Know it always has during its display life, but form all the books i ve read this was never applied to any other Vulcan at any other time... So why did they do it?
Generally its universally agreed the current colour scheme does not represent any of the colours worn by vulcans during their service life, however, this was the actual colours it was in when it retired so technically it is still in its last active scheme. It was resprayed between finishing its service life as a tanker and being passed into the hands of VTTS.
She was actually painted incorrectly the final time (the colours are incorrect shades of grey I believe), one of the reasons for this may be the need to have given it an anti-corrosion lacquer during the paint job.
