Strange as it may seem being Hampshire, it would appear that Surrey Police now pretty much work out of Odiham. What I cant work out is to what extent. A local free paper reported that they are now based here but I have only seen them dipping in and out so I dont know if thats true. However, G-SURY, now appears over the airfield several times per day. Does anyone know if they are hangared or whether its just a matter of refueling?

They set up camp at Odiham a few months ago now. A bit safer after their vandalism woes at Fairoaks.

Looks to me like only 1 person has seen what a farce this all is.

Hi Folkyphil I am prone to ranting when it comes to the bahavior of our policemen, suffice to say, if they as a VERY WELL PAID organisation cannot /will not look after a VERY expensive PIECE of equipment, then the organisation needs a thorough examination. Terry ( I am only tcr because I couldn't register as Terry )

Without starting a major Debate i am with TCR on this . QUESTION Why was aircraft left completly unatended or observed when its on a 24\7 role ? I know there is no ATC there after hours at fairoaks but assuming this incedent occured at night was there no security lighting or personel anywhere ? Given this was a police Area? .or is it as i suspect just locked up and left until Reqd ?

tcr and Tony... Maybe I missed something in the links (my web browser is out-of-date, so I can't open them). I agree with both of you that the occurence at Fairoaks should not have been allowed to happen. Similar acts of vandalism have taken place around the country, as you may well know. Totally concur that security for these aircraft should be reviewed and appropriate funding and facilities provided. In the meantime, Odiham is probably the best place for G-SURY.

Woodvale was broken into to attack its resident a/c and I believe the West Mids helo suffered a similar fate.
