Done a bit of digging on the Bournemouth Aviation Museum move. This follows Manchester Airport's decision to turn the old area into a car park in December 2007. They are moving just outside the airport at the western end of the runway in the kiddies adventure park. Planning has gone in for the aircraft on display and 5 portacabins with spaces for twenty cars. There is intention now to put a "viewing platform" on one of the portacabins. See plan below.
I have enjoyed many, many hours here, not only in the museum(which reminds me of the "Jet Age Museum" in Gloucester), but in the "picnic" area which gave unrivaled views on the main runway.
Agreement has now been reached with the owners of Adventure Wonderland and the move is now under way. During the third week of September fencing and temporary buildings are being installed on the site. The aircraft and cockpits are being moved during the fourth week. It is hoped that the Museum will once again open in early October. This will be announced soon.
