If flying was the language of man, soaring would be it's poetry.

We had something similar in November at Lasham too that I'm sure you know of. I watched the Royal Aeronautical Society do a few flights in 'Airglow' in commemeration of the old CFI Derek Piggott flying the SUMPAC one early morning around bonfire night. The Royal Aeronautical Society last november was a lot more succesful in making their man powered aircraft fly! Was flying from one end of 27 to the other! From seeing both the Bang Goes The Theory Flights and the Airglow flights in person it's clear to see Bang Goes The Theory didn't do too much research into their flights, hence why it only JUST gets off the ground . Still impressive though! My Two Cents Planesandthings

The official programme was on Monday Night about the Man Powered Flight. Quite impressive considering how that the presenters are not Athletes! It's cringing to see where they've stiched different parts of the Flight Preparation (The Scenes of getting it out of the main hanger were filmed 6 hours after the flight, I know that beacuse I saw that scene being filmed!) But ah well thats TV for you! It's towards the end of the Show www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01h94cd/Bang_Goes_the_Theory_Series_6_Episode_7/Also a good few clips on the BBC Website of the Presenter flying in the DG1000 776 with the DCFI ! G-ATRG served as a Photoship for this flight with G-TOWS towing. Planesandthings

This was attempted in the 1970s. The aircraft of that time (G-BDFU) is now with the Museum Of Flight at East Fortune. Another MPA from around that time was called the Gossamer Condor.
