Hi All,
I realise that by the very name "Families Day", this is an event not open to the public, but just wondered if there was anywhere locally where I could see some of the action and get some pictures.

This is correct. Families Day is 21st. Unfortunately though, they have been even quieter on the participation front than any other year! I hope thats not a bad omen. I have looked on every local website I can find and there is nothing linked to Odiham on the 31st May. I told this to the guy with the families day website, and he hasnt changed it!

Just for info, I'm sitting outside the gate, and the display board says"RAF Odiham Festival - Mess Hall - Summer Ball". Everyone still looking to go?!

My wife and I used to watch from the track at SU75264 49097. It provides excellent views of landing aircraft if they're on westerlies.

Buster, although that is quite a good area, there are no views of the airfield from There, just landers, the other layby is in hayley lane

The layby just off the road to Alton and south of the airfieed perimeter gets full very early with little other choice of parking.
The spot I highlighted is great for the landings/departures and a good place to be 'under' the flying display, looking right up the tailpipe of a Typhoon on full re-heat was rather interesting. I kept thinking, if he gets this wrong, what a way to go!

Rockwell,
can you confirm your display schedule is genuine and you are not seeing what reaction you get?! Unusual that they have it tied down so well in advance! The Rivet Joint would be some sight! But must be a bit of a "subject to..." jobbie?!

I wonder if the Air Seeker will make it as it only flew for the first time late last month. Might use it for a training sortie? Pity it has the CFM engines, will sound more like an A340 than a 707!
