Others noted today Army Air 630 Defender, arrived 15.16 Army Air 629 Defender, circuits 17.25 (he said something about HIKEY? which seemed to have him transit the field at about 1500ft, any idea what this means Army Air 702 Gazzelle arrived on disused (23) 15.25 There was a Merlin in and out a couple of times between 15.30 and 16.30, I'm assuming it was "Vortex 311" as the tower kept asked for under carriage check and I can't think of anything else around that had retractable gear!! "Vortex 311" was heard dept to "Cotswold Radar" Spectre 1 through to 4 were heard this afternoon at 15.30 so I'm assuming again as there were 4 of them this was the Shawbury gang !

"High Key" and "Low Key"... I'd forgotten those terms. Used to use them a great deal when controlling USAF F-100s in Africa back in the 60s...

Hi Guys, sorry its a bit late, not been able to get on, but I popped up to Odiham about 1530 yesterday and there was indeed a Merlin doing circuits, it was carrying underslung field guns on circuits within the perimeter (with wheels down), dropping them, going to great height (wheels up) and repeating. 4 x Bell 214 did arrive as did a Gazelle. Various Chinooks were doing circuits too. Sadly I didnt have the bins with me so missed the detail sorry! I promise to be better prepared next time!
