OK, I have some info. Its generally looking light. O'Briens flying circus will be there and there is a Reds fly through planned. I understand it will be mainly ground items such as a Gnat. But there is one very big item. I am reliably informed of this so I don't think its a wind up. The Breitling Constellation! Not only that day, apparently it will be flying pre-arranged private jaunts from here for the week up to RIAT then staying there.
To me, that makes up for everything!

RIAT doesn't appear on their schedule either, I'm guessing thats an official performance! Perhaps that page isn't as up to date as it could be! Heres hoping Odiham based :-)

Let us pray, but don't get too excited. I've heard enough wind ups to make me very wary..

This is the running order for the flying. Looks like Connie will be ground only.

Military cutbacks are certainly biting deep compared to pre 2010!

Have again had it confirmed the Constellation will fly On the day, but this will be local flights for Breitling guests. From what I hear we should see this unusual sight in our sky's for a few days. I'm looking forward to that. As to ground items, I'm told many light/vintage aircraft have been invited.

Argh! Latest info is that Connie is subject to normal Airfield operations. So if they decide the weeks ops are likely to be interfered with by the flights, it will be cancelled. Will update when I hear further

Having never seen a Connie fly, I am getting rather excited at the thought of one arriving just up the road! Mrs Buster is used to it! Back in 1989 I took her out for lunch whilst on Holiday in Orlando to a small town called Sanford which just happened to have an under-utilised airport (Comair Bandit doing circuits) and a lovely Starliner parked up (Now at Polk City). The photo I took still hangs on our bedroom wall of it. Now you would have thought driving from south Orlando to north and seeing the 'super connie', she would have been delighted - sadly no! I do however have Busterette in training, much to Mrs B's disgust!
I await futher updates excitedly!

I suppose I was truly lucky that my Ruth, God bless her, was an avid spotter too so she would eagerly visit any airfield we were near. Our very last holiday in 2007 took in the museums at Tauranga, New Zealand and Chino, USA. We only had to peep into a hangar and some nice bloke would come along and show her round.
I hope to see the Super Con but I haven't ventured far for over a year so I'm not too sure if I can make it. Hope you get some great piccies.

Not wishing to appear ignorant but is this the same Connie that appeared at one of the PFA Rallies at Cranfield back in the 90's? I've got a feeling MATS was displayed on that one. I guess Breitling have taken over the sponsorship now?

Surely you don't look at that picture of the Connie on your bedroom wall Buster ! ! ! ?
Strangely though I've got a picture of an Antonov AN-22 at Farnborough 1988 on mine.

The MATS Connie that visited the UK in 1998 was N494TW ('8609'). Sadly it now sits (non-flying) in a museum in South Korea painted in Korean Airlines colours.
The Breitling Connie is HB-RSC - formerly N73544 - once upon a time the 'The Camarillo Connie' based in Camarillo, California.

I've been inspired to post some Constellation photos! Here's the MATS Connie, sadly now grounded: And here's the Breitling Connie as it was in the States as the Camarillo Connie: Finally the Breitling Connie as it is today:

Thanks Adola.
Maybe I had better make the effort to come over to Odiham. Is it already in this country or is it still to arrive from Switzerland? Maybe it could be on a direct flight into Odiham from abroad.
I seem to remember several years back the 2 Breightling Junkers 52 with Boris Becker on board flying over Bognor direct in to Goodwood for a 2 day promotional.

Mrs Buster may not be an aviation enthusiast, but our walls are decorated with Aviation Art and my bedroom picture of the Starliner. Busterette finally knows the difference between an Lanc and a B17. Mind you, when I am banished to Buster Towers, westerly arrivals at Lasham are my only bearable vice!
The MATS Connie I missed see flying by a band of cumulus cloud. Sat on her flight deck at Farnborough, but never seen one in the air!
Controller, we must meet up and have a chat, that is if I am ever released from Buster Towers!

Isn't there a Constellation in the Science Museum hangers at Wroughton, or is it just my imagination. Can anyone confirm please?
