Dennis Lyons' ashes scattered from Tiger Moth The ashes of a former rocket scientist and test pilot have been scattered over the runway of Farnborough Airport.
Dennis Lyons, who died last year in Fleet aged 94, had his ashes scattered by his son Mark from a Tiger Moth, watched by his six other children.
Mr Lyons' family made the request to the airport as he worked there as a research leader for 28 years.
He helped to develop aircraft such as the Mosquito and later Britain's Blue Streak and Black Knight rockets.
Mr Lyons, known as Joe, went on to run the Road Research Laboratory in Berkshire.
It was there that he worked on the breathalyser, compulsory front seat-belts and motorway crash barriers.
