Does anyone recall the Farnborough Show of 11 September 1960? Before the show a Lockheed Harpoon of the Portuguese Navy, serial 4605, did a low run and headed for Odiham.
I have not yet found anyone who saw it apart from me and the spotter I was with.
Any offers....

There was a French Lockheed Harpoon at Blackbush, Farnborough Airshow week 1959. (picture Airliners.com)
Remember the Farnborough Show in those days was "British" and not International .. so unless it was say powered by Rolls Royce, personal can't see it over LF.
Good Hunting

It's true - it did a fly down the runway prior to the show and went to Odiham. I've always wanted to find someone else who saw it and maybe got a piccy.

By pure chance I have just aquired an assorted mixture of Air Pictorials from the period 1960-3.
An article in Oct 1960 deals with Odiham activities in that years Farnborough Week. It 'lists all types present together with a representative serial or registration of each'
The only Portugese mentioned is C-54 6601 and the only Lockheeds a T-33 Mk 3 RCAF & C-130A US
So is the article is fully acurate or was the aircraft based elsewhere? Obviously not Blackbushe which was shut
Would a controller at Odiham record details of arrivals & departures? and would they be available from the stations historian if you really wanted to know?
Regards
John

OK thanks everyone. Sadly, I cannot locate my handwritten notebook from those days. All I have is my typed log of military aircraft seen, which would have been typed soon after the show. It quite clearly states the serial, type, air force, location and date. I am sure that at the time we must have confirmed the information from somewhere and assumed it must have been Air Pic. However, if there is nothing in Air Pic I am at a loss. I can't believe i would type the wrong date but i have no way of knowing.
Thanks again.

Just as follow up I actually logged Harpoon 4614 Portuguese Navy going into Thorney Island in May 1962 Obviously a bit latter than the dates previously shown
